Meet Our Experts

KJHamBiagas

Hi! I am Kori Hamilton Biagas, founder of Just Educators. Welcome to our website. I’d like to share a little bit about myself.

I founded Just Educators out of a deep passion to address inequity in the education system. I got my start working as a tutor in a DC housing project and then transitioned to being a secondary teacher in south central Los Angeles. Through those experiences I was able to witness first hand the impact of inequity and injustice on young people. However, it was not until my work with the Equity Alliance at ASU, that I truly began to see the role that I have in changing the education system for kiddos. Serving as a professional development and technical assistance provider, I saw the power of dialogue around the sensitive topics of injustice, inequity, bias, and privilege. Meeting people where they are in an authentic and respectful manner is core to my approach, and essential to changing hearts and minds.

My localized work at regional education centers addressed educational inequity and discrimination on the basis of (dis)ability,  gender, national origin, race, religion, and socioeconomic status.  While engaged in this work I also explored the implications of implicit & explicit bias on school culture and climate; school transformation from a culturally responsive lens; alternatives to exclusionary discipline practices; and using data to interrupt pathways from schools to prisons.

I am both grateful and fortunate to work with a dynamic and knowledgeable team of consultants from across the country. We strive to provide relevant, timely, and high quality technical assistance and training to our clients. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to learn with and from you in the future.

Justice is for all.

Sincerely,
Kori Hamilton Biagas
